9 out of 10 jobs predicted in Queensland to grow will require a VET qualification

The latest Report on Government Services shows that Queensland is a leader in Vocational Education and training (VET) having the nation’s highest rate of student completions.
Minister for Training and Skills Development Shannon Fentiman said with almost 60 qualifications completed per 1000 people in 2018, Queensland was leading all other jurisdictions.
“This is great news for Queenslanders and it means more students are gaining world class training that will prepare them to take their future on,” Ms Fentiman said.
“We know nine out of 10 jobs predicted to grow will require a VET qualification.
“And that’s why we’re backing more young Queenslanders to undertake skills and training with our free tafe and free apprenticeships initiatives.”
“A free apprenticeship is a ticket to a job and already we are supporting more than 16,600 young Queenslanders to gain a valuable qualification for FREE.”
“We are providing the skills and training for more jobs in more industries.”
“And the rate of completions amongst our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are second only to the Australian Capital Territory.”
“The Palaszczuk government is committed to providing world class training opportunities that will lead to more jobs for Queenslanders and we will continue to invest in their futures.”
