$300M contract awarded for coal mine in Central Qld - 350 jobs

A mining services company has won a tender for a coal operation in Central Queensland worth up to $300 million.

Mastermyne Group recently secured an extension for its Moranbah region umbrella contract at Anglo American Metallurgical Coal’s Grosvenor Coal Mine and Moranbah North Coal Mine, both about 200km southwest of Mackay.

The successful contractor will continue to design, supply, install, recover and maintain ventilation structures and devices. This includes secondary support, Outbye support, conveyor belts and other development services. QMEB can reveal the deal is for a three-year term and worth between $250M and $300M.

The Courier Mail have reported that the contract "will secure more than 350 regional jobs for the next three years through the Mastermyne Group".

Several underground positions are available including:

  • Electrician
  • Conveyors operator
  • Fitter
  • FIFO operator
  • Conveyor installs operators (multiple positions)
  • Secondary support operators (multiple)
  • Development electrician
  • Secondary support fitter
  • Development fitter
  • Development operator
  • Ventilation operator
  • Development explosion risk zone controller.

The company is offering an equal time roster of seven days on and seven days off, paid annual leave, parental and cutting bonuses, salary sacrifice for non locals (fly-in fly-out and drive-in drive-out), camp, meals and a novated car lease.
