Job purpose summary

Sunbirds is a Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) designer and manufacturer based in Toulouse, France. This start-up, created in 2015, launched the first light solar-powered drone on the international market and opened a branch in Brisbane, Australia. Sunbirds drones has proved to be useful for several applications, in particular in the livestock industry. Our drones are used in cattle stations for waterpoint monitoring tasks, as well as for inspecting the property (fences, gates, cattle, etc.).

We currently have one sales representative in Australia, working on the market development and commercial selling in Brisbane. However, in order to support our sales effort and to fully present the capacity and advantages of our drone, Sunbirds is opening a branch in Longreach, in order to be closer to our market.

We are looking for an IREX holder interested by the drone industry! 

The main missions will be to demonstrates Sunbirds’ drones to customers, develop the branch in Longreach, increase our customer portfolio and represent Sunbirds in the Outback QLD.

Key Responsibilities

Sunbird has built a network of contacts and potential clients in Australia that helped define the best marketing & sales strategy. In order to support that strategy, the main responsibilities of the new drones’ pilot for Sunbirds will involve:

Main responsibilities:

1. Sales
   • Regular meetings with customers and prospective clients
   • Give regular feedback on livestock requirements to the team based in Brisbane
   • Demonstrate the product and collect feedback to improve Sunbirds solutions in Australia
2. Commercial follow up
   • Support the reseller to deal with the clients’ requests (software improvement, technical issues)
   • Follow up and maintenance of ongoing customer relationships
   • Ensure after-sale services together with the reseller

Secondary responsibilities:

1. Drones’ piloting
   • Perform flight test in order to see the drone’s reactions in Australian’s extreme conditions (weather, environment, …)
   • Perform flight test of the drones’ improvements
   • Provide flights trainings to costumers
   • Participate to professional and relevant events: demonstration, provide technical information, showcase the products, do demonstrative flights
2. Drones’ software/mechanical improvements
   • Build relationships with Australian costumers to improve the drone for their specific needs
   • Use feedback during flight demonstration to propose new software and mechanical improvements
   • Improve the drone to adjust it to Australia’s environment
   • Adapt the drones’ improvement to Australian’s legislation
   • Take care of the client support: assembling and fixing their drones

Hard and soft skills requirements

License

• IREX holder
• RePL holder (>7 kg) fixed wing drones – good to have but not required

Experience/knowledge

• Knowledge in the livestock industry is a requirement
• Knowledge in the aviation’ field (IREX holder)
• Drone piloting experience is a good but not required
• Knowledge in the drones’ market (good not required)

Fluent English. French not required.
