Your new role
The RAP Coordinator is a key member of the HR team. This role will coordinate the delivery of the Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) and building cultural competence within the agency.
The ideal candidate in the role will:

  • Plan and initiate activities and projects to support the delivery of the RAP, with agreed time, cost and scope constraints.
  • Manage the delivery of culturally appropriate activities to mark significant events including Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week.
  • Resolve problems and assist in the development and implementation of initiatives, policies, processes and systems to ensure the delivery of the RAP.
  • Support key internal stakeholders with the development, coordination and implementation of projects in line with the RAP.
  • Monitor the delivery of the RAP, and provide timely and accurate advice on progress, risks and issues to the RAP Working Group.
  • Prepare reports, submissions, briefs, spreadsheets, planning documentation and other written correspondence in relation to the RAP.
  • Support community engagement processes including the monitoring and reporting of actions and outcomes from these processes.
  • Assist in the building of cultural competence within the agency through the provision of advice, insight and training.

What you'll need to succeed
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Experience in the concurrent delivery of multiple projects as part of a broader program of work.
  • Experience in monitoring and reporting on others’ delivery of projects and activities.
  • An ability to communicate with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and an understanding of historical and contemporary issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • A good working knowledge (or the ability to quickly acquire such knowledge) of the Queensland public sector environment, including local government and the Queensland Police Service, and relevant policy and legislative frameworks.
  • The capacity to self-manage, including being able to work with other disciplines in a team and deliver quality work to meet deadlines.

It is a genuine occupational requirement of this position that it be filled by an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person as permitted by the provisions of the Anti Discrimination Act 1991.
