About the Team

Reporting to the Manager HR Operations, this role is a key member of an existing team of HR professionals made up of Talent Acquisition, HR Business Partners, HR Analytics and Veteran Program and Diversity & Inclusion. This role will work closely with the Manager HR Operations to inform the D&I strategy, and then develop a roadmap which brings that strategy to life; with the support of your HR colleagues, to successfully influence various initiatives across our complex business.

About the role

As the Veteran Program and Diversity & Inclusion Specialist within RDA, you will be responsible for determining and championing key methods in which to best attract, retain and develop a diverse workforce, as well as contribute towards a culture where people of all backgrounds feel a sense of belonging within RDA.

Working alongside our existing HR team, this role is focused on bringing the global Rheinmetall D&I agenda to life in all aspects of the RDA employee experience. This role will engage with stakeholders and community groups internally and externally to inform strategies designed to grow representation within the business.

As a Veterans Program and Diversity & Inclusion Specialist, you can anticipate some of your day-to-day tasks to include:

  • Leading and coordinating RDA’s award winning Veterans Engagement Program;
  • Providing leadership, advice and support in relation to Diversity and Inclusion;
  • Reviewing and updating organisational policies and procedures in line with D&I initiatives;
  • Establishing RDA’s Reconciliation Action Plan and leading relevant actions;
  • Chairing the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee;
  • Leading the delivery of a calendar of events that celebrates Diversity and Inclusion and drives employee participation and engagement;
  • Leading the reporting of internal metrics and using data to generate and share insights that help drive our D&I objectives; and
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of training, while maintaining currency with legislative and regulatory requirements.

The experience and skillset best suited to this role include:

  • A strong track record of experience in working with or alongside Veterans or military personnel, and First Nations People;
  • Previous experience in a Diversity and Inclusion role, preferably within a large and complex organisational environment;
  • Ability to influence and present concepts to various stakeholders (both internally and externally);
  • Familiarity working with organisations such as WGEA, Legacy etc;
  • High level verbal and written communication skills, including being able to present to small and large groups comfortably;
  • Highly developed time management skills, be a team player who is flexible, self-motivated and demonstrates initiative; and
  • Be eligible for an Australian Government Security Clearance and have the capacity to satisfy pre-employment screening.
