This role will report to the National Operations Manager and work closely with the OHV Management Team while operating independently to coordinate day to day tasks at the Wacol and Welshpool facilities. In addition, you will lead a team of tradespersons, directing and controlling their performance and outcomes to ensure the product is delivered to the customer’s expectations.

In this role you will ensure safety and quality standards are maintained for all production jobs with a focus on Quality, Delivery, Safety and Cost. You will be working closely with the management team in delivering the goals and objectives, as set by management and the business In this role you will be required to analyse and present on a wide range of operational metrics including, but not limited to :performance, continuous improvements and projects to the wider management team.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate morning CCC Meetings focussing on; Quality, Safety and Delivery including WIP coordination and labour for that day.
  • Actively maintain WIP sheet to include incoming, outgoing WIP with dates, financial estimates/actuals and labour hours ensuring information is accurate and readily available for use by the management team
  • Coordinate team members to effectively deliver quality products on time and in full to customer requirements
  • Act as the focal point for customer queries and communications and the day to day planning and product realisation.
  • Facilitate strip report generation and quotation/depot repair management in Business ERP to reflect strip report and inventory outcomes.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to team members on technical queries for OHV product line working with Wabtec engineering and local field service support.
  • Promote safety awareness and a strong safety culture for workshop operations, fostering a “safety first” culture with a drive towards open reporting and risk mitigation.
  • Collaborate with leadership and team members to deliver projects, help improve process efficiency (Continuous improvement), drive production gains and manage change through a change management process.
  • Responsible for implementing and following procedures set by the Quality Management System and following and implementing directives from management and the Quality Leader.
  • Creating a quality centric culture with a drive towards open reporting, continuous improvement and 5S.
  • Ensure the NCR process is followed and documented when issues are raised or found via internal external and assist in the corrective and preventative actions through leading root cause investigations and process re-engineering.
  • Assist and provide support and technical knowledge in the development and review of documentation including Travellers, WI’s, SOP’s and SRA’s
  • Responsible for implementing and following procedures set by the EHS Management System and following and implementing directives from management and the EHS leader.
  • Utilizing Gensuite to track safety observations, actions and incidents and driving team to raise concerns.

Qualifications
  • Trade qualifications in either Mechanical or Electrical background
  • Relevant post trade qualifications, tickets and leadership experience will be considered favorably
  • Flexibility with work hours.
  • Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to applying safe work practices
  • Significant trade or industry experience
  • Demonstrability to prioritise workloads. Must be able to work as part of a team, with or without supervision.
  • Abide by all company Policies and Procedures.
  • Participate in workplace inspections and safe work observations.
  • Ensure mandatory PPE is applied.
  • Must comply with mandatory random drug & alcohol testing.
  • Lead toolbox talks and workplace safety meetings.
  • Undertake training required for the position.
  • Microsoft Office skills.
