We have a new opportunity for a Terminal Operator at our Cairns Terminal. You will be part of a small team that manages the safe receipt, storage and dispatch of our bulk cement products.

You’ll load and unload rail units, perform site maintenance activities and other site functions as directed by the Operations Manager. You will work effectively with various internal and external stakeholders as well as autonomously to meet the requirements of the terminal operations.

The general operations hours are 6:00am to 3:30pm Monday – Friday. You would also be required to provide coverage if required at our Townsville Terminal.

About the role:

As a Terminal Operator at our Cairns site you will:

  • Operate plant equipment to obtain maximum throughput and achieve quality targets
  • Unloading of rail ISO’s from the rail siding into the terminal silos
  • Allocate and supervise contract maintenance providers
  • Perform preventive maintenance routines and minor maintenance activities
  • Undertake daily stock control of receivable cement products and dispatch products and materials to meet leading deadlines
  • Perform basic root cause analysis of equipment failure
  • Basic housekeeping duties

About you:

To be considered for this position you will ideally have:

  • 3+ years’ experience in terminal operations
  • Manual car licence
  • Trade qualification in either electrical or mechanical field highly regarded
  • Rail shunter ticket (desirable)
  • First aid certificate (desirable)
  • Basic computer skills, ideally SAP, Microsoft Excel, Lotus Notes, TIS
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to travel to Townsville, when required
