About the role:

The National Facilities Manager is a key member of the Property leadership team and provides expert advice and recommendations on asset management and contractor management. This role will lead the planning, development and implementation of maintenance and project works across the G8 portfolio. They will clearly identify strategic plans to apply and implement best practice methods to ensure a safe, compliant, and fit-for-purpose environment for team members, children, and families. This role can be based in either our Brisbane or Gold Coast offices.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Contribute to the development of strategies that optimise portfolio investment outcomes aligned to the Group’s strategic objectives
  • Plan, develop and implement preventive and reactive maintenance programs, to maintain the centre network standards, and to ensure safe, compliant, and fit-for-purpose environments
  • Develop and implement an effective prioritisation framework for maintenance and project activities, supported by an effective profile of centre condition assessment and service history
  • Accountable for effective planning, and delivery of maintenance projects across the portfolio
  • Manage the end-to-end contractor procurement process, leading the scoping, tender, and commercial negotiation of terms and supporting contract documentation, to optimise service delivery and cost effectiveness.
  • Accountability for contractor performance and managing deliverables to meet the business objectives and maintain statutory obligations
  • Plan, develop and implement sustainability initiatives across the portfolio relative to the physical environment and contracted services e.g., solar power, waste management
  • Develop and maintain a reporting framework for functional accountabilities, illustrating performance against key objectives and agreed lead and lag measures and targets.
  • Maintain a risk register for all functional accountabilities and develop and implement effective risk mitigation strategies to enable business operation within Board approved risk tolerances.
  • Lead and manage the Facilities team, and contribute to a positive, performance team culture to successfully grow and build team engagement and capability.
  • Accountable for delegated budgets to ensure effective management of expenditure

Essential Criteria:

  • Proven leadership experience and teamwork skills.
  • Significant experience in facilities management in a similar role within a large-scale property, facilities management, or corporate environment.
  • Significant experience with contract management and commercial leases, and the ability to interpret complex legal contracts.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction and fit out project management, and the ability to apply it to the early education sector
  • Significant experience managing large scale operational budgets with ability to forecast, phase planned works with the ability to accrue costs to relevant projects or works.
  • High level organisational skills and with a practical and flexible approach to work to achieve business objectives
  • Strong knowledge of facilities management systems and related software.
  • Demonstrated skills in project management, procurement, and commercial negotiation.
  • Strong understanding of WHS legislation and statutory requirements, and the ability to apply it to the early education sector
  • Demonstrated research skills and data analysis, with the ability to identify and communicate relevant insights
  • Demonstrated experience in business process development and implementation
  • Strong working knowledge of MS excel and ability to analysis data and develop reports.
  • Excellent communicator, with ability to collaborate across the business and to build and maintain relationships with relevant stakeholders
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to think laterally
  • A qualification in Facilities Management, Contract Management, Asset Management or Project Management is desirable
  • A Qualification in Work Health & Safety along with a working knowledge or trade experience would be of advantage.
