About the Role

Based at Dalby, you will be responsible for continuously improving operations of safety performance, by championing a culture of safety excellence. This role will also strengthen the leadership team with a strong emphasis on coaching and ensuring accountability by all in the organisation.

Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer, you will:

  • Drive the safety function of WDRC and be a key influence to all stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes;
  • Act as a Strategic Partner with Council's Management Team to assist in the development, implementation and ongoing review of Work Health & Safety Management Systems and Processes;
  • Monitor the provision of workplace rehabilitation and return to work within WDRC, and oversee the development and implementation of appropriate policies, practices and procedures in relation to workers compensation and rehabilitation; and
  • Pro-actively identify and assess latent, current and emerging WHS issues and ensure that appropriate control measures are considered and developed.

About you

The successful applicant will have:

  • Strong leadership skills and be able to build relationships and promote ownership;
  • A practical approach with extensive knowledge of legislative requirements within the state;
  • The ability to drive change and performance and to initiate and develop solutions to complex issues;
  • A relevant Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, OR be able to demonstrate equivalent related experience; and
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years' experience as Work Health & Safety leader within a multi-disciplinary organisation (highly desirable).
