About the role

Due to growth within our Housing Team, we are now seeking a Housing Officer to join our team in Kenmore. In this highly rewarding part-time role (22.8 hours per week), you will be responsible for providing housing services for people who are on low income, homeless or at risk of homelessness and discriminated against in the mainstream housing market. Your days will be varied and challenging however your key duties will include:

  • Managing a diverse housing portfolio - housing allocations, eligibility assessments, rent management and referral advice;
  • Proactive tenancy and property management;
  • Sustaining tenancies and providing quality customer service;
  • Promoting tenant participation and undertaking community engagement activities;
  • Conducting periodic property inspections.

About you

Excellent interpersonal skills are part of your expansive repertoire enabling you to effortlessly build rapport with people. With a naturally empathetic disposition you are compassionate toward vulnerable individuals. You are highly approachable, an adept problem solver who can think quickly on your feet to make apt decisions.

With effective communication skills, you are capable of liaising comfortably with a range of internal and external stakeholders. You have comprehensive knowledge of legislative requirements and effortlessly promote a culture of compliance.

To be suitable for this position, your qualifications for the role will consist of:

  • Certificate IV in housing or other equivalent community services qualification; or
  • Demonstrated experience in rental property/ tenancy management or other community services role, working within a legislative environment;
  • Current driver's license
  • A current National Police Certificate and Blue Card - or the ability to acquire.
