Maitland City Council's aquatic centres play an integral role in the LGA’s leisure and recreation service offering with over 185,000 visits to Council's centres each year. With two centres located in Maitland and East Maitland, the facilities offer a combination of indoor and outdoor pools, an aquatic playground and children wading pools, viewing grandstands and park areas, making the centres a popular leisure, play, education and fitness destination for the region.

About the role

This role is a parental leave cover for 6 months which will be responsible for overseeing the day to day safety operations at both of our Aquatics Centres at Maitland & East Maitland as well as the supervision of the pool and on duty lifeguards.

We are looking for a great leader who can work under pressure whilst also ensuring the safety of the community is the first priority. If you are confident in water quality management, a proactive risk management leader and can deal with emergency situations in a clam and confident manner then we want you.

About you

  • You will hold a Certificate III in Aquatics and Community Recreation (or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role providing supervision and learnings to other lifeguard and aquatics staff
  • Must be available to work across a 7-day roster.


This is a temporary (6 month) full-time role, working 38 hours per week across a 7 day roster period (Monday to Sunday and including public holidays) with a base salary range for this role being $61,024 up to $67,737 per annum based on demonstrated competencies + super.
