Job Description
-We are currently seeking an experienced Maintenance Superintendent (Planning and Engineering) to lead a team of planners, reliability engineers and project engineers, in carrying out all aspects of planning and projects at our Capcoal Surface Operations near Middlemount, QLD.
As the successful candidate, you will provide supervision, oversight and a safe working environment to the on-site planning, projects and engineering team. Your success in this role will come from a combination of technical knowledge, strong work management and people management skills to meet the objective of continuing the safety culture of the workforce, maximising reliability and standard of service. Reporting to the Engineering & Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for the development and monitoring all associated detailed plans/schedules, providing accurate reports on progress, variances to plan, root causes and remedial actions.
To be successful, you will ideally possess a tertiary, or as a minimum a trade qualification in Engineering, display highly developed interpersonal skills and be able to liaise with key stakeholders in a site based setting.

Relevant Experience / Skills & Knowledge:

  • Extensive experience working as a Planning and Engineering Superintendent within an Open Cut mining environment
  • Demonstrated team management and leadership ability and experience;
  • Strong HSET knowledge and adherence
  • Good understanding of business and finance goals in conjunction with overall project requirements
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication, organisational and planning skills
  • Strong work management skills
  • Strong credibility in working with and influencing an embedded front line operational workforce
  • Demonstrated capability in a progressive leadership role - moving beyond a compliance focus to leadership, effective safety systems and personal behaviours
  • Strong understanding and capability in safety culture and leadership concepts and practical application of risk assessment; hazard identification and controls; and incident management and investigation
  • Qualifications

-Engineering Degree, or an associate Diploma or an Australian recognised Trade Certificate

Additional Information
-This is a full-time, permanent role working a Monday – Friday (5/2) roster based at our Capcoal Surface Operations near Middlemount, with subsidised housing or camp accommodation on offer. This role is also suitable for residential or DIDO commuting.
