AKIPS is looking for multiple experienced C and/or Perl developers to enhance our network monitoring software.

Tasks include:

  • Research

  • Prototyping

  • Design

  • Development

  • Performance Tuning

Developers typically work in pairs on multiple pieces of functionality in both primary and secondary roles.

Skills and Experience

  • Writing well-organised and sustainable code

  • Design, develop and debugging of efficient and high performance C and/or Perl applications

  • UNIX (FreeBSD, Linux, Solaris, etc)

  • Exposure to web technologies

  • A desire to learn, innovate and keep abreast of latest technologies

  • Excellent communication skills and a willingness to collaborate

  • Close attention to detail

  • A friendly and outgoing personality

Workplace Environment

  • FreeBSD and Mac workstations with 27" 4K monitors

  • C, Perl, Shell, Make, Javascript, HTML, CSS, Bootstrap

  • Clang / LLVM // GCC, gprof, pprof, dmalloc, valgrind, backtrace

  • PerlCritic, PerlTidy, Web Inspector, tcpdump, Wireshark

  • Git, Subversion, VIM

  • IP/TCP/UDP, IPv4/v6, SNMP / MIBs, Ping, Netflow, syslog, ssh

  • Sockets, pipes, web APIs, encryption, compression

  • Ethernet, switching, routing, firewalls, VPN

  • 32 core production / test / development servers running as bare metal and FreeBSD bhyve VMs
