About Queensland Academy for Science Mathematics and Technology

QASMT is an International Baccalaureate World School and is proud to uphold the values of an IB education. QASMT offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) as its core curriculum in Years 11-12, the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IBMYP) to our students in Years 7-9 and an IBDP preparation program in Year 10. The IBDP is a demanding pre-university course of study that culminates in international external examinations. It has earned a reputation for rigorous learning and assessment, and as such gives IBD holders access to the world's leading universities.

QASMT is seeking a Head of Department who will provide professional leadership and management of a house team as well as support high quality teaching, effective use of resources, and high standards of learning and achievement for all students. The position is known locally as House Dean. The House Dean is responsible for the academic progress and wellbeing of students within the house and will assist the Principal in the overall leadership and development of the Academy.

Your Role

The suitable applicant will be a high calibre, outstanding educational leader with a contemporary leadership style focussed on collegial engagement, collaboration and innovation in order to foster and drive continuous improvement throughout the Academy. We are seeking a leader who is passionate about engaging and supporting students to achieve the highest possible outcomes, preferably with experience in positive psychology to contribute to our Positive Education Program. In addition, the role requires a passionate, high-energy leader who is able to work in a fast-paced, high expectations environment, with a proven record of accomplishment of working with high achieving students.
