Disability Support Worker (DSW)

About the Role:
Asher House is home to 12 young people living with high-care needs and offers them permanent, safe & independent living with 24 hour care. Asher means "Happy & Blessed", a name given to the house by its residents.

As a DSW you will be expected to work co-operatively & effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment to support the goals & achieve resident outcomes. You will be working alongside not only your fellow DSW's but also engage with Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses, Cook, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists & family members of the residents.

The primary role of a Disability Support Worker is to provide assistance to individuals with physical, developmental or cognitive disabilities. This role includes but is not limited to personal care (showering/dressing), continence support, assistance with meals, assistance with medications, domestic duties (laundry/housework/ironing/gardening), shopping, transport, in home respite, centre based respite care & overnight respite (including sleepovers).

We are looking for DSW's who are positive, enthusiastic & driven to make the lives of our residents the best they can be.

In addition, a Disability Support Worker will assist in implementing client-specific programs to help these individuals accessing support to build strong social skills and encourage independence whenever possible.
