About the Department
The Physiotherapy Department provides high quality clinical services across a spectrum of acute, sub-acute and outpatient services. The Department works as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide assessment, treatment and a range of therapeutic services to optimise patient care and maximise function. The Department is committed to fostering excellence in evidence based clinical care, research and education.

About the Role
An opportunity currently exists for an experienced physiotherapist to join the physiotherapy department on a part time, fixed term basis. The successful applicant will be responsible for providing high quality, overall physiotherapy management to patients admitted to the Rehabilitation service at St George's Hospital Melbourne. The role is responsible for supervision of students, Grade 1 staff, and Allied Health Assistants and taking a leadership role within the department and the Rehabilitation multidisciplinary team.

Applications from current grade two physiotherapists or suitably experienced grade one physiotherapists will be considered. Relevant postgraduate qualifications would also be highly regarded.

Must have, or be currently eligible for, National Physiotherapist Registration.

Classifications for this position will range from Physiotherapist (Grade 2) VB1 - VB4 ($83,361 - $95,825 per annum).


  • Provide appropriate clinical management for patients in the Rehabilitation Service and relevant residential care facilities if required.
  • Provide consultation and expert advice for staff regarding the management of Rehabilitation patients.
  • Clinical supervision and teaching of physiotherapy students, both undergraduate and postgraduate, as required.

Skills and Experience

  • Recent experience in and knowledge of physiotherapy management in a sub-acute health care setting.
  • Experience in physiotherapy student and junior staff supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and successfully as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability and desire to take part in quality improvement activities and research activities as appropriate.
