Our SEQ Network Assets group delivers infrastructure services, construction, maintenance, asset management and development across our 700 kilometres of rail network across South East Queensland, stretching from Varsity Lakes in the South to Gympie in the North, from Moreton Bay in the East and inland to Rosewood in the west.


This position sits within the Plant and Mechanised Maintenance team within our SEQ Track and Civil Infrastructure business based at Banyo.


We are looking for a self-motivated individual looking to start a new career direction specialising in rail civil infrastructure. We offer training and development and encourage progression within our team.


As a Plant Operator you will work in a semi-autonomous team carrying out a mix of general hands-on civil labouring maintenance task for drainage and operating civil machinery such as excavator and loader, ensuring safe working practices are adhered to and relevant work standards are met.


On weekend track shut downs you will work on larger works including undercutting sites and once trained operate specialised rail undercutting machines and equipment.


This position is always in the field therefore you must be happy to work in a variety of weather conditions.


To be considered for this position you must hold a current manual C class drivers licence and have hands on civil labouring experience.


Ideally you will have additional licences or tickets such as, HR licence, excavator, loader, roller, skid steer or other general earthworks machinery.


The team currently work 76 hour fortnight with a 9 on 5 off roster – this roster is subject to change with business requirements. The current roster requires you to work roughly every second weekend with penalty rates applied. Overtime is available at times on non-rostered days although this must be approved and comply with our fatigue management policy.


Base entry salary including All Purpose Allowance is $55,000 (roughly just over $27/hr) plus penalties, a generous superannuation scheme (up to 12.75%) and free rail travel to and from work. Working the current roster on the entry level salary and working an average amount of overtime members in the team average $70,000 - $90,000 annually, this is an indicator not a guarantee.


To support you with your goals to advance your skills you will have the opportunity to complete a Certificate III in Civil Construction.
