Full Job Description
The Adolescent Day Program is looking for a Carer Peer Worker who possesses a personal lived/living experience as a carer for a family member using mental health services (public/private). You will assist in the facilitation of delivering support services to carers and families and assist service providers and Non-Government Organisations to develop a better understanding of the recovery framework while utilising a lived experience of caring for someone with mental health issues to work towards achieving the best outcomes for consumers.

About the Role

Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld), there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to possess a personal lived/living experience as a carer for a family member using mental health services (public or private).

A Carer Peer Worker works under direction to facilitate the delivery of support services to carers and families of the mental health service.

A Carer Peer Worker is employed to assist carers and families, service providers and Non-Government Organisations to develop a better understanding of the recovery framework while utilising a lived experience of caring for someone with mental health issues to work towards achieving the best outcomes for consumers.

The Carer Peer Worker provides support in both inpatient and community settings.

The Adolescent Day Program (ADP) provides intensive and specialist multidisciplinary assessment and integrated treatment and rehabilitation to adolescents aged between 13 and 18 years of age with severe, complex and persistent mental health problems, often associated with complex developmental comorbidities and significant functional impairment across multiple domains.

The ADP is run in partnership with Education Queensland and provides educational and therapeutic group based interventions, as well as individual treatment within a recovery framework and in collaboration with consumers, their families/carers and other stakeholders.
