Full Job Description
Operating from within OLGR, you will be involved in compliance, licensing and client service functions under a range of Acts including the Liquor Act 1992, Wine Industry Act 1994 and gaming legislation administered and enforced by the OLGR. During the COVID-19 public health emergency you may be required to assist with Chief Health Officer direction compliance monitoring and enforcement activities, mainly at liquor and gaming venues. You will be a member of a small team with an active role in ensuring that the liquor and gaming industries of Queensland continue to operate in a responsible manner and that the persons and organisations engaged in these industries are of suitable character and repute. This position is available on a flexible full time basis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake typing, word processing, data entry and general administrative and clerical duties.
  • Liaise with external and internal clients in the provision of departmental services including handling a range of enquiries relating to Liquor Act 1992, Wine Industry Act 1994 and various gaming legislation.
  • Provide advice to current and potential applicants or their agents in relation to liquor licence/permit requirements.
  • Process license applications and permits utilising Microsoft Word and database facilities.
  • Prepare memoranda and general correspondence containing sustainable, well written and reasoned recommendations in relation to the suitability of applications and applicants.
  • Counter duties (including the receipting of applications, cash, cheques and EFTPOS payments).
  • Undertake proactive compliance activities as directed in respect to the legislation administered.
  • Investigate the use of fraudulent identification documents as directed.
  • Assist in and carry out interviews, objection conferences and other licensing or compliance administration duties as required.
  • Work both independently and as an effective team member Provide education and training to liquor and gaming industry and other stakeholders as required.
  • Provide administrative and operational support for the regional offices as required
