Full Job Description
Pathology Queensland are seeking a competent CA3 permanent part-time to join our team. Located in Meadowbrook the primary purpose of this position To contribute to a high quality, cost effective pathology sample collection service for clients of the Logan Hospital and Pathology Queensland and to assist in laboratory operations as required. Key competencies (role specific criteria)

You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following skills, experience, knowledge and personal qualities:

Skills

Successfully perform phlebotomy on neonates, paediatric, adult and geriatric patients
Prioritise inpatient and outpatient workloads to meet Turn Around Times, averaging 7 or more collections per hour on each shift
Use ieMR (integrated electronic Medical Record system), Auslab and QIS (Quality Information System) or the ability to quickly learn those systems
High level of interpersonal and communication skills to enable calm, effective, cooperative interaction with supervisors, colleagues, patients and clients

Experience

An established history of positive teamwork, respectful behaviour and above average attendance
Demonstrated ability to work in a responsible and efficient manner with and without supervision

Knowledge

Knowledge or ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of medical terminology and abbreviations, pathology terminology and abbreviations, test names and specimen types
A knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Outlook or the ability to quickly learn those systems

Reliable, honest, resilient, dedicated
Neat, tidy, respectful personal appearance
Availability to participate in any rostered shifts within the time period 0600-1700 including working weekdays, weekends and public holidays
Availability to work extra time or shifts when necessary to meet patient and client need, work full-time for short periods to support the Supervisor, or at times to act as Supervisor

Qualifications, registrations and other requirements

Mandatory Qualifications - Certificate III in Pathology Collection or equivalent or higher
Mandatory participation in the weekend / public holiday roster.
Mandatory capability to stand and walk for up to 8 hours and able to push a trolley to various hospital wards
Previous experience, especially in paediatric phlebotomy, would be well regarded.
