About the role:

Are you an experienced in the construction/maintenance of roads and drainage infrastructure? Do you hold a current Grader Operator competency ticket? Mackay Regional Council have a position for a Plant Operator – Grader to join the team in a Permanent fulltime position with a 9-day fortnight roster.

The successful candidate will be based at the Paget Depot and will carry out predominately grader operations, plant and truck operation and labouring duties associated with the maintenance and construction of roads and drainage assets, or other associated civil infrastructure including, but not limited to earthworks, concrete, pipelaying, bitumen and vegetation work.

Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

  • Current General Construction Safety "White" Card
  • Current QLD Heavy Rigid Truck ‘HR’ Class Licence or ability to obtain
  • Current Certificate of competency to operate motor grader > 35kw
  • Competent operation of a rigid motor vehicle with GVM equal to or greater than 22.5 tonne or rigid motor vehicle and trailer combination with GCM not exceeding 42.5 tonne
  • Demonstrated relevant experience in the operation of grader and in particular maintenance works (mixing existing gravels and imported gravels with required crossfalls), final trim operation including experience with Trimble would be desirable (or other computer-controlled software) guided operation
  • Experience in providing instructions to work crews
