About the role:

Mackay Regional Council is seeking a qualified and experienced Water Treatment Operator to join our Water Treatment team, working at various locations within the Mackay Region.

The Role:

To carry out the continuous operation and monitoring of the Mackay Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants in accordance with regulatory requirements such as the Environmental Protection Act, Environment Licences, Public Health Act and Drinking Water Quality and Recycled Water Management Plans.

To carry out maintenance and operational activities within the area of the Treatment Plants in an effective, efficient and safe manner and in accordance with the adopted process control philosophy.

Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

  • Current QLD ‘C’ class drivers licence
  • Certificate III in either Water Treatment Plant Operations OR Wastewater Treatment Operation or ability to obtain.
  • General Construction Safety White Card
  • Current self-contained breathing apparatus certificate
  • Current First Aid certificate or ability to obtain.
  • Sound experience conducting sampling and laboratory testing.

Applicants must have the ability to perform after hours work on an on-call and call-out basis.
