Position: Chef

Position Type: Full-Time

Salary: $55,000.00 plus superannuation per annum

Our client is seeking is an experienced full-time Chef to join their team located in Manly West. Your role as a Chef will be to provide the finest quality product and service which is presented in a timely and efficient manner at all times.

Tasks required include:

  • Responsible for effective and efficient preparation of all food items
  • Responsible for ensuring strict stock control measures are observed by:
  • Correctly storing daily stock upon arrival
  • Ensuring turnover of stock and keeping stock fresh by following "first in, first out" method
  • Maintaining stock at correct levels
  • Minimising wastage at both preparation and service stages
  • Responsible for ensuring effective communication and team work within the kitchen by:
  • Liaising with the Head Chef and Group Catering Manager and assist with preparation for functions and other occasions as required
  • Liaising with other staff eg; kitchen-hands, bistro, coffee shop staff
  • Responsible for ensuring a high standard of customer service by:
  • Being on hand during trading hours to serve and assist patrons
  • Preparing food from patron orders
  • Maintaining bain-marie food at correct levels
  • Responsible for operating all kitchen equipment in a safe manner by:
  • Following all equipment instructions of use
  • Following all kitchen safety procedures
  • Taking care at all times not to harm yourself or any other staff member whilst carrying out your duties
  • Responsible for preparing orders by using (but not limited to) the following equipment: Grill - cook steaks, fresh fish etc, Deep fryer, Ovens and Range tops
  • Responsible for ensuring a high level of hygiene in the kitchen by:
  • Maintaining personal and workplace cleanliness throughout shift
  • Storing clean equipment and utensils in correct places
  • Responsible for supervision and training of apprentices when required
  • Responsible for maintaining hygiene and occupational health and safety requirements by:
  • Ensuring that each job allocation is carried out safely according to the clubs safe work practices
  • Maintaining all equipment in a clean and safe working order
  • Storing all materials and equipment in a safe manner
  • Reporting any faulty or damaged materials and equipment to the WH&SO
  • Using any supplied personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Comply with HACCP techniques and procedures as per Food Safety regulations
  • Relieving and performing other duties as requested by Management.


  • Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma
  • At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed
  • Certificate III & IV in Commercial Cookery would also be highly regarded
  • Minimum 5 years prior relevant experience as a Chef
  • Proven experience supervising apprentices
  • Food Hygiene certificate
  • Demonstrated ability to organise a kitchen team within a busy environment.
