The Role

As the Chief Accountant you will be reporting to the Financial Controller. You will be in charge of organising and overseeing the Resort assets, liabilities, revenues and expenses. Your mission shall principally be to keep the Resort’s accounts in accordance with internal policy, the Uniform System of Hotel Accounts, external standards and statutory requirements and ensure the administrative management of the accounts personnel. The highest principles of integrity and honesty shall apply.

Some of things you will be doing in your new role:

  • Assisting the Financial Controller
  • General Account Payroll and Administration
  • Credit Account (Income Audit and Accounts Receivable)
  • Prepare cash flow forecasts, monitor and advise the Resort Manager on the Resort’s cash flow position.
  • Prepare purchasing functions, ensuring competitive quoting and pricing is achieved and purchasing volumes and stock holdings are appropriate.
  • Continually monitor internal controls pertaining to cash, sales transactions, collections, inventory, expense authorisation and payroll to ensure risk of asset loss is minimised
  • Handling store function, ensuring proper handling, storage and rotation of stock to minimize wastage

Essential skills and attributes:

To be successful in this role, you will need the following

  • Experience in Hotel and Hospitality, essential
  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar environment
  • Experience with SunSystems Financial Accounts Software, Symphony, Time Target, Materials Control system, Sage Micro-Pay, and POS system will be well regarded
  • Is a good team player, shows initiative and assist others without being asked
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent telephone etiquette combined with negotiation and selling skills
