Based in the Brisbane office and reporting to the Team Leader, the main purpose of this role is to take a lead role in the delivery of environmental compliance awareness, assurance, and reporting programs within the Santos Onshore Division. This will be delivered in accordance with statutory and regulatory obligations.

Accountabilities are delivered in line with the Santos company values and Santos Management System (SMS). Key responsibilities of the role include:

Identify environmental legal requirements in relation to the Onshore Division’s oil and gas activities
Provide environmental advice and input into the Division’s development, operational and decommissioning plans
Develop awareness materials and deliver both within office and field locations
Provide environmental assurance on the Division’s environmental management plans and activities
Report on awareness and assurance activities and assess data to identify emerging issues and trends
Inform environmental performance improvement plans and report on implementation and measure effectiveness
Participate in environmental risk assessments and incident investigations
Promote a high-performance environmental culture through building relationships and influencing key internal and external stakeholders
Ensure that environmental regulatory obligations and assurance activities are captured in Santos’ systems
Provides support to the Onshore Division and Environment Function and performs other environmental duties as required by the Company
Understand change and performance mindset and participate to achieve desired cultural outcomes
Contributes to delivering on cost reduction efficiencies and value creation strategies as directed
Effective and timely collaboration with internal and external stakeholders as required
Ensure compliance with and adherence to standards for EHS performance and behaviour consistent with Company’s environmental, and health & safety vision and policies and standards

About You:
Relevant tertiary and/or industry experience in technical area
Experience in the provision of environmental awareness, compliance and assurance activities, ideally to the petroleum sector
Sound knowledge of Environment legislation, policies and processes related to oil and gas operations
Previous experience working within environmental management systems, tools and industry standards etc.
Proven high-level communication and organizational skills
