Do you have a passion for working in the beef industry and helping graziers improve their profitability, productivity and natural resources?

Do you have practical extension experience working with graziers to adopt new practices and monitor change?

Can you lead a dynamic team of enthusiastic and practically-minded grazing field officers to improve the management of natural resources?

NQ Dry Tropics are searching for two motivated Grazing Team Leaders to manage the implementation of grazing-based water quality improvement projects based in the Bowen-Broken-Bogie (BBB) and Upper and East Burdekin sub-basins. The positions are based in Bowen (BBB Grazing Team Leader) and Townsville (Upper & East Grazing Team Leader), with current projects operating until late 2023.

These roles will oversee highly experienced, practically minded teams of grazing field officers, and work alongside GIS and technical specialists to implement on-ground projects that accelerate the adoption of grazing management practices that build A and B condition landscapes. It will oversee the coordination and delivery of professional development (training & workshops) opportunities that build the capacity of graziers to implement improved land, herd and business management systems. It will ensure that consistent and collaborative processes are followed by all grazing staff within NQ Dry Tropics.

The positions are responsible for operational planning and project management, including monitoring, evaluating and reporting on the progress of key project deliverables timely and to budget.

What you need to have:
An enthusiastic attitude with an eye for process and detail;
Strong communication and engagement skills that can motivate and lead team members and participating graziers;
A passion for natural resource management and the grazing industry, with experience or technical skills that support adoption of sustainable grazing and land management practices;
Excellent organisational and project management skills, with a high level of attention to detail;
Experience managing staff and team

In return:
NQ Dry Tropics will provide an attractive salary in the range of $86,551 - $101,253 per annum (plus allowances), based on proven experience. You will be supported to build advanced knowledge and skills, and provided with career development opportunities through an attractive Professional Development program (reflective of 5% of your base wage). A C-class drivers licence is essential.
