About the Position

It is a great time to be joining the Water and Waste Directorate of the City of Gold Coast where you can be a key driver in enacting change. We require a passionate Senior Business Analyst for various transformational activities.

Reporting to the Coordinator Business Improvement you will be responsible for coaching cross-functional teams in adapting to and understanding improvement processes, facilitating Kaizen and Rapid Improvement Events (RIEs), and supporting process improvement activities and projects. Included is the requirement to conduct an introduction to Lean thinking training and workshops across various business areas.

The successful candidate will also be required to interpret customer needs and requirements, translate concepts into practice, identify process improvement opportunities, and quantify results and trends.

Key Deliverables of the position

  • Engaging stakeholders to define a problem statement & scope, needs and requirements
  • Undertaking complex analysis and process mapping
  • Coordinating and running process improvement workshops with varied stakeholders in the organisation to support critical strategic, tactical, and operational improvement activities
  • Working with a variety of services and stakeholders within the City to streamline processes utilising LEAN tools
  • Documenting, measuring, and reporting benefits for improvement activities
  • Coaching and mentoring key stakeholders in LEAN thinking

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have skills, knowledge, and experience in the following:

  • Lean Certification
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working as a Senior Business Analyst role leading the implementation of Lean and Continuous Improvement principles in both the public and private sectors
  • Have the capability to lead projects at an operational and executive level
  • Be experienced in facilitating Rapid Improvement Events/Workshops to engage cross-functional groups to understand complex business problems and agree on long term solutions
  • Be experienced in engaging with and coaching critical stakeholders in the delivery of business improvement projects to build Lean capability
  • Be an analytical and pragmatic problem solver experienced in the facilitation and training of root cause analysis problem-solving methodologies
  • Be highly skilled at applying and implementing Lean tools such as Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen events, A3 Problem Solving, 5S, and other fit for purpose tools
  • Possess strong experience in performing detailed analysis on the business, outline business problems, opportunities, and solutions for the business
  • Have expertise in quantifying benefits and successfully implement changes to realise business benefits
  • Be structured, organised and have great attention to detail
  • Possess strong self-leadership skills to manage initiatives across multiple business areas
  • Set goals, multi-task, and manage deadlines without compromising the quality of output
  • Use excellent interpersonal and communication skills in building and maintaining effective stakeholder/ working relationships, collaborating within a team environment
  • Be able to prioritise and present information confidently to stakeholders
  • Be competent in the use of computer software including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint, MS Teams, Microsoft Planner, and Promapp
