About the Position

Located in our Water and Waste Directorate, the Network Reliability Branch is responsible for the delivery of planned water and sewer network asset maintenance programs. The team also utilise technologies such as ultrasonic leakage detection, in-line sewer conditions assessment (CCTV), and GPS equipment, together with undertaking asset locations and asset condition monitoring.

We are seeking an Asset Technician to deliver planned water and sewer network asset maintenance programs with an emphasis on technology such as leak detection equipment, in-line sewer conditions assessment (CCTV etc), and new and emerging technologies.

Under the direction of the Supervisor Civil Maintenance, this is a multi-skilled position with a technical focus requiring an aptitude for digital technologies. You will be required to:

  • Become proficient at numerous technologies such as leak detection, leak correlation, CCTV survey, GPS data capture, flow metering, smoke-testing, ultrasound assessments, condition assessment reporting.
  • Carry out after-hours works when necessary for survey works and assist in emergency works requiring the use of specialist equipment (you will not be required to take part in on call duties on a defined roster).
  • Ensure WHS and other legislative requirements are complied with at all times.

About You

You will have a significant experience in delivering asset maintenance programs within the water and sewer industry. As this is a multi-skilled position with a technical focus, you will have aptitude for digital technologies - you will be required to become proficient in numerous technologies such as leak detection; leak correlation; CCTV survey; GPS data capture; flow metering; smoke-testing; ultrasound assessments; and condition assessment reporting.

You are able to maintain and build relationships with stakeholders, and have the ability to manage your own time, set priorities, plan and organise your work to achieve objectives. You will ensure that workplace health and safety and other legislative requirements are complied to at all times.

You will have the following licences/qualifications:

  • Cert III Water Industry Operations OR the equivalent knowledge
  • Confined Space statement of attainment (or ability to train and attain certification)
  • Drivers Licence Class C Unrestricted
  • WHS Licence General Construction White Card

The Selection Process
