The Senior Development Engineer leads a small team of professionals responsible for determining, imposing and ensuring the engineering aspects of Water and Sewer related development activities achieve Council’s requirements in relation to asset quality and management, safety and risk, sustainability, community expectations and impact on the built and natural environment. The Senior Development Engineer also assists the Team Leader in the negotiation of complex matters with Developers and other stakeholders.

Our ideal candidate will be someone who will apply their technical and leadership skills in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of detail. They will thrive on the responsibility of undertaking complex assessments while also leading and mentoring a team of engineers and technical officers.

Key activities of this role include:
  • Support and advise a small team of professionals in the assessment phase of water and sewer related development activities;
  • Provide advice regarding the assessment and determination of Water and Sewer engineering requirements for complex developments and Council’s statutory responsibilities for acceptance of public infrastructure works;
  • Lead the development of engineering standards and construction/commissioning processes for the successful integration of new assets into the existing water supply and sewerage networks;
  • Ensure the development of the Region enhances and protects the natural and built environment.
About You:
  • You have a degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or have demonstrated solid contemporary experience and specialist knowledge of water supply and sewerage engineering standards and practices;
  • You have experience in making sound and reasonable judgment when faced with complex problems;
  • You enjoy sharing your knowledge and expertise, while also leading and mentoring others;
  • Having a work/life balance is important to you.

This role provides a salary range of between $91.6k to $110k per annum (inclusive of Civil Liability Allowance 3.5%) + superannuation + vehicle allowance of $165 per week

A 9 day fortnight work-cycle currently applies to this role. This arrangement may be subject to change.

Successful candidates may be required to undertake a course of vaccinations against Hepatitis A and B and Tetanus or demonstrate their immunity.
