Job Description

An exiting opportunity exists for a energetic and passionate individual to join the team at Ipswich East State School as Head of Department (Curriculum) commencing Term 3, 2021. Ipswich East is seeking an individual who has strength and experience in leading and supporting teaching teams with the implementation of the three-dimensional Australian Curriculum, through a quality differentiation lens. This role is ideal for an individual who is excited by the opportunity to lead and add value to a highly collaborative leadership team. This temporary full-time position is for a period of 12 months, unless otherwise determined.

About the School:

Ipswich East State School is located in the Ipswich Region of South East Queensland. Established in 1958, Ipswich East State School makes a difference to ensure that together, we can achieve. Through teaching we empower students to be able to experience success in their lives. Currently the school has a student population of approximately 380 students from Prep to Year 6. The school draws the majority of its students from East Ipswich, North Booval and Basin Pocket. The full range of curriculum areas are well catered for with a special education program also being offered.

About the Role:

As the Head of Department (Curriculum) you will have responsibility for the following:

  • Lead the relevant curriculum areas or whole school program to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
  • Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
  • Set high standards for student and staff performance.
  • Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
  • Form partnerships with students, parents, other government agencies, and community groups.
  • Be futures oriented and strategic.
  • Understand the legislation and policies that impact on schooling especially in relation to students and staff within the school department.
  • Manage the human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources of the curriculum areas or whole school program to achieve goals.

A mandatory requirement of this role is:

  • Current full registration or current provisional registration with eligibility for full registration, as a teacher in Queensland.
  • Teachers working in Education and Care Services (including State Delivered Kindergarten programs) require an exemption card issued by Blue Card Services.
