Corporate Communication.

Corporate Communication leads all external marketing and communication on behalf of the City of Gold Coast.

The branch is focused on delivering communication and marketing activities and campaigns that strategically align with corporate priorities and community needs.

About the position.

We’re looking for an experienced and enthusiastic communications and marketing professional to deliver proactive and positive public relations opportunities and implement marketing communication activities that positively present the Gold Coast to key target audiences.

The Assistant Marketing Officer will:

  • Develop an effective integrated reputation building public relations plan in collaboration with external partners and stakeholders to achieve objectives.
  • Implementing all reputation building public relations activities including but not limited to media famils; outside broadcasts; managing content provision for publisher partnerships.
  • Assisting in the implementation of marketing communication activities, including owned social media channels, as part of campaign plans
  • Assist with delivering market research opportunities to further inform marketing plans and strategies.
  • Identify, develop and manage relationships with potential stakeholders (internal, local, national and international).
  • Ensuring consistent messaging in all public relations and marketing activities including joint initiatives with third parties.
  • Building a comprehensive marketing assets portfolio of relevant images and videos.
  • Developing, writing, editing and proofing marketing content and assets as required.
  • Reporting on deliverables and results from key media and marketing activities.
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders; external partners and media outlets to support and amplify City of Gold Coast marketing activities to achieve broader Gold Coast objectives.
  • Support marketing administration requirements as required.

About you. The Assistant Marketing Officer has:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in a similar role(s)
  • Proven ability to develop and implement tactical public relations plans to achieve objectives
  • An established ability to craft creative angles to story development and pitching
  • Experience in implementing a range of marketing communication activities via digital, social and traditional channels
  • Demonstrated experience in producing high quality written materials
  • Proven experience in successful stakeholder management
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Ability to plan and autonomously manage multiple projects and tasks concurrently
  • Good team working attitude with a creative thinking and proactive approach
