School of Biomedical Sciences

The University of Queensland School of Biomedical Sciences is a distinguished centre for teaching and research in the academic disciplines of Anatomy, Cell Biology, Developmental Biology, Neuroscience, Pathology, Pharmacology and Physiology. The School has more than 40 full-time research and teaching staff and is one of the largest Schools of its type in Australia. It has links to other prestigious research centres on the St Lucia campus including the Queensland Brain Institute (QBI), the Institute of Molecular Bioscience (IMB) and the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN). Our diverse research provides an exciting environment for national and international research fellows and higher degree students. It is concerned with advancing the understanding of how cellular mechanisms contribute to the function of the human body in health and disease. In addition to its graduate research programs, the School teaches undergraduate and postgraduate students in Biomedical Science, Medicine, and Health Sciences.

About the opportunity

You will be responsible for providing high level support and advice to the School Teaching and Learning Committee (TLC) in the planning, development and implementation of key projects in the School of Biomedical Sciences (SBMS).

Core duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Contribute to the development of School-level strategies and action plans to enhance teaching quality and learning outcomes.
  • Carry out all stages of project design and implementation based on guidance from the School TLC.
  • Consult broadly with internal and external stakeholders, interview and gather feedback to complete tasks, and exercise discretion in the management and sharing of information.
  • Source and analyse all available metrics, apply the appropriate validity checks and cross reference with other sources.

This position is located at is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus, renowned as one of Australia’s most attractive university campuses and reports to the School Manager and works closely with the School Teaching and Learning Committee.

Our ideal candidate

Applicants should possess tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline with at least 4 years subsequent relevant experience; or extensive project management experience at a university or comparable organisation.

Additionally, you will possess:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum development and teaching and learning quality issues in higher education, and how these relate to biomedical sciences.
  • Ability to analyse complex data and problem solve, using sound judgement and reasoning to provide accurate and consistent advice and inform recommendations.
  • Demonstrated skills in the development, independent design, planning, management, and successful execution of projects.

What we can offer

This is a full-time fixed term position until 31 December 2022 at HEW level 7.

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $88,763.14 - $96,783.71 per annum plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $103,852.88 - $113,236.94 per annum.
