Our client, a large complex Queensland government agency, are currently seeking an AO8 Manager, Disaster and Emergency.

As the Manager, Disaster and Emergency you will:

  • Design, implement and review policies, procedures and systems relating to Disaster and Emergency Management.
  • Provide high level leadership, undertake high level analysis and provide strategic advice to senior management, other central agencies and departmental stakeholders on issues pertaining to Disaster and Emergency Management.

As the Manager, Disaster and Emergency you will have responsibility for the following:

  • Lead a team in delivery, management and reporting of all Disaster and Emergency issues for the department.
  • Provide high level advice through the Director, Executive Director and Senior Executive Officers concerning all Disaster and Emergency related matters.
  • Manage the human, financial, and physical resources allocated to support the service function and is accountable for their effective use.
  • Regularly liaise with stakeholder groups to provide high level advice and implement capacity building strategies for Disaster and Emergency programs that enable our customers to effectively and efficiently manage their infrastructure.
  • Lead the delivery of the department's Disaster and Emergency Program, including recommendations from departmental and external agency disaster event reviews
  • Coordinate the development of relevant projects and programs, their budgets and key deliverables and monitor, evaluate and report on program outcomes.

  • Exercise high level communication, consultation and negotiation skills in providing leadership, guidance and assistance to operational teams in the implementation of delivery of Disaster and Emergency services.
  • Lead continuous improvement, including the development of template documentation, business process improvement, management of disaster risk aligning to Queensland Emergency Management Risk Framework (QEMRF), disaster management plans, operating agreements and procedures to promote best practice in service provision.
  • Coordinate and prepare comprehensive briefings, reports and correspondence.
