UQ Centre for Clinical Research

The University of Queensland Centre for Clinical Research (UQCCR) is a $70 million purpose-built facility sponsored by Atlantic Philanthropies, the Queensland Government (Smart State funding) and UQ. The building, completed in early 2008, is located at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital site at Herston, Brisbane. The RBWH is the largest teaching hospital in Australia and the site also houses a basic medical research institute (QIMR), and a significant Faculty of Medicine presence, including the School of Public Health. The UQCCR has capacity for 320 staff with affiliation guided by research strengths, assessed by defined research quality indicators.

UQCCR’s mission is to improve health outcomes for individuals and populations based on rigorous, high quality clinical research. This is achieved by facilitating research and training, influencing patient care, and providing the translational linkages between basic and applied scientific research, the patient, and health outcomes. About this opportunity

The Clinical Research Nurse will provide high quality research in a nursing capacity, including subject recruitment, collection, and collation of data for clinical studies, both observational and involving an intervention (clinical trials).

The successful applicant will also support specialist research-facing clinics, including clinical assessments, administration of cognitive tests, obtaining and handling biological samples (e.g., blood, saliva), documentation in patient files, data collection and entry, retrieving and documenting laboratory and radiology results, patient and GP contact.

This position is located at our Herston Campus and reports to Trials Medical Specialist.

Our ideal candidate

Applicants should possess postgraduate qualifications in Nursing (or progress towards postgraduate qualifications) and extensive relevant experience and management expertise with an active unrestricted AHPRA registration.

Additionally, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Ability to perform clinical activities including experience in venipuncture skills, cannulation, medication administration, ECG etc.
  • Clinical nursing experience as a registered or enrolled nurse
  • Planning, time management, problem-solving skills and ability to influence and elicit cooperation.
  • An ability to be adaptive and innovative in developing and pursuing solutions.

It is a condition of employment for this role that you will be required to provide evidence of immunisation against certain vaccine preventable diseases.

What we can offer

This is a part-time, fixed-term position (0.6 FTE) until 30 November 2021 at HEW Level 8.

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range of $100,264.90 - $112,583.94, plus super of up to 17% (the total package will be in the range of $117,309.93 - $131,723.21).
