About Department

Berengarra, a new multi storey 90 bed state of the art residential aged care facility comprises 60 mainstream and 30 Aged Persons' Mental Health (APMH) beds designed to deliver contemporary best practice person centered care. Berengarra compliments a suite of existing St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne's residential facilities.

Berengarra is due to welcome the first residents in March, with a planned staggered opening throughout 2021 until the facility is at capacity.

About the Role

You will provide a range of support services for our aged care residents, working as part of a team to deliver the best practice care in line with the organisations policies and procedures. As part of the wider Support Services team, you will be responsible for the delivery of customer focused flexible food service model for the residents, which includes the preparation of food, snacks and beverages for residents. You will also be required to support the cleaning and laundry service teams, including laundry, cleaning, drying and putting away clothing tasks. All duties are to be carried out within appropriate legislative standards to ensure the safety and welfare of the residents. Part time positions available, minimum 21 hours per week, maximum 38 hours per week.

Classification for this position will be GV9 ($48,386 per annum pro rata)

Duties

  • Assisting in the preparation of short order meals for residents to ensure variety and eating time flexibility in line with the flexible food service model, and coordinate and prepare the daily menu and beverage choices for our residents
  • Wash residents meal plates/ kitchen trays to ensure ongoing provision of a clean pantry and kitchen, and ensure all kitchen equipment including refrigerators/ ovens and benches are clean in line with the Food Safety Standards and Plan
  • Maintaining the highest standard of cleanliness and hygiene across the facility by assisting the cleaning team with cleaning of the facility, including resident rooms/ bathrooms / living areas/ dining areas and staff and pubic areas
  • Sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, scrubbing, detail dusting, glass cleaning , resident bed making and kitchen cleaning to support the comfort of our residents, and continued compliance to Infection Control procedures
  • Assist the Laundry team with laundry duties, including taking the trolleys to the laundry, washing, drying, pressing, folding and return of residents laundry to their room

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Food Handling Certificate (essential)
  • Experience in cleaning, and food and beverage handling/preparation (preferably in an aged care setting)
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team
  • Highly developed communication skills
  • Previous experience in a hospital and/or residential facility would be highly desirable
