About us

Lives Lived Well is a leading support organisation for people who have problems with alcohol and drugs as well as other addictions such as gambling and associated mental health issues. We provide support services including residential rehabilitation and community counselling in more than 40 locations across Queensland and NSW.

In a peaceful area based in Mareeba (Cairns), Shanty Creek is our Indigenous alcohol and drug residential treatment and recovery program . It provides support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men and women, aged 18 years and over, who are experiencing alcohol or other drugs dependency or misuse and mental health concerns. The program is dedicated to acceptance, compassion, respect and trust. It is an environment where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men and women can find solutions to their drug and alcohol problems. Shanty Creek provides a safe and supportive environment, to assist clients in reaching their goals and reduce the harm of drugs or alcohol.

This position is an "identified position" and Lives Lived Well considers that being an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person is a genuine occupational requirement for this position under s 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld).
About the role

We are looking for dedicated, reliable and capable Administration Officer to provide administrative and financial support services to the Operational Team and the wider Shanty Creek Team. This role also provides a high standard of customer service in liaising with stakeholders and residents with external partners. Reporting to the Team Leader - Shanty Creek, this role will be part of a wider team focused on delivering an effective and efficient service to clients.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Provide effective administrative, communication and support services at Shanty Creek Facility staff, clients, and stakeholders.
The timely scheduled maintenance of fleet and heavy machinery, maintaining accurate records and file management.
Ordering and collection of materials and products for the Operations of Shanty Creek Therapeutic Community.
Provide administrative support to direct manager and staff.
Provide Front Desk services at Shanty Creek Therapeutic Community.

About you

As an Administration Officer , you will demonstrate a passion to client service delivery. Your understanding of the cultural and historical issues that impact on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander persons, along with maintaining professional working relationships will ensure success in the role.

Additionally, you will also possess the following skills and experience:

Experience in a similar position working in Administration.
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and excellent interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers.
Ability to contribute as an effective team member and relate positively to a diverse range of people.
Demonstrated ability using computers and technology.
Demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise work activities and meet deadlines.
Problems solving capabilities.

This role is a part-time role (20 hours per week) and the salary range for this role is $28.41 to $31.00 per hour.
