About the Position

The purpose of this position is to lead a team of passionate professionals who are responsible for meeting relevant organisational objectives in the context of stormwater management across the city.

This is achieved through the delivery of multiple programs of works, which will assist in the following:

  • setting strategic direction as to how stormwater is managed across the City
  • identifying sustainable service standards in the management of stormwater that will protect and enhance the local environment and community
  • planning, delivering, and managing public stormwater infrastructure across the city.

Key deliverables of the position:

  • Provide leadership and foster collaborative stakeholder engagement both internal and external to Council.
  • Ensure works adhere to organisational governance and framework.
  • Coordinate the investigation and timely response to stormwater enquiries or concerns raised by internal stakeholders and the community at large.
  • The development and implementation of work programs to ensure public stormwater infrastructure across the City meets adopted standards of service.
  • Provide plans and budgets to inform Council’s annual cycle of funding requirements.
  • Coach and mentor project managers and engineers within the team.
  • Provide subject matter expert advice to support to the team.
  • Champion the application of asset management principles when delivering programs of work, that result in effective stormwater infrastructure management for the city.

About You

  • You have exceptional interpersonal and stakeholder communication skills.
  • You have high level analytical skills to effectively lead a team to deliver programs of works.
  • You have experience in program development and delivery.
  • You have experience in leading, managing, and mentoring project managers and technical experts in a diverse and high performing team.
  • You are committed to leading by example and have a proactive and positive attitude.
  • You are committed to continuing professional development.
  • You can provide expert knowledge, exercise initiative, engage stakeholders, prepare reports, policies, correspondence and facilitate meetings relating to service plans and delivery.

About the City Assets branch

  • Infrastructure Asset Custodian for transport, drainage and foreshore facilities.
  • Custodians of over $12 billion worth of assets including, but not limited to approximately, 3200 kilometres of road, 2500 kilometres of drainage pipe, 100 boat ramps, 20 jetties, 3 dams, 130 lakes, 400 kilometres of constructed canals and 52 kilometres of beaches.
  • Coordinates and delivers strategic and tactical asset management planning, asset information and data management and contributed asset review and acceptance functions for the Directorate.

The Transport and Infrastructure directorate is ultimately here to deliver quality infrastructure and services that align with the broader organisation’s vision and purpose. The directorate consists of asset custodians, service providers and business support roles that all contribute to the overall management, delivery and maintenance of quality infrastructure and services.
