About the service

In a peaceful, rural area south of Brisbane, Logan House based at Chambers Flat, offers a residential alcohol and drug treatment program, which is part of a continuous package of care. Our Residential Treatment program at Logan House has serviced the community for over 40 years. With the goal to encourage residents to live life well Logan House offers a specialist alcohol and drug treatment residential program for people aged 18 years and over. Our program aims to provide a safe and supportive environment free from alcohol, illicit substances and non-prescription medication to support our resident’s treatment journey.

About the role

As part of an integral team, reporting to the Team Leader – Logan House, you will be supported by a team of psychologists, social workers, counsellors and an on-site nurse.

As a Support Worker in our team, you will provide out of hours support and supervision to the residents in our service who are undertaking their six-week treatment program. Your role will be to support and monitor the activities of the clients through relationship building, day-to-day care and consideration of service planning goals.

You will thrive on this opportunity to:

  • Monitor, facilitate and monitor the smooth running of the residential centre after hours
  • Respond appropriately to crisis situations and communicate with on-call staff as necessary
  • Facilitate transport, outings and support that aligns with service planning and goals
  • Supervise the self-administration of prescribed medications by the resident population.
  • Establish and maintain a therapeutic relationship with residents to identify and address issues of concern

What you will bring to the role:

  • Demonstrated ability to engage easily with a diverse and complex client group.
  • Demonstrated ability to mediate, resolve conflict and deal with behavioural issues in a respectful and non- punitive manner.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant human services discipline with additional AOD qualifications.
  • Able to easily engage with a diverse and complex client group.
  • Current Australian Drivers Licence.
  • Previous experience in an AOD or residential setting is ideal.

The salary range for this $31.75 to $34.04 per hour plus casual loading, applicable penalties and loadings.
