Queensland Law Society (QLS) is the professional body for legal practitioners, representing more than 11,000 members state-wide. We lead the legal profession by advocating for good law and supporting good lawyers.


QLS has a part time opportunity for an External Examinations Officer who strives for excellence within a confidential environment, and has the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team to join their Trust Account Investigations business unit.


About the role

  • To ensure law practices comply with legislative requirements when lodging Law Practice declarations and External Examination reports
  • Provide administrative assistance – correspondence, declarations, submissions, statements and reporting (failure to lodge) and determine additional information as required
  • Discharge statutory responsibilities imposed by the Legal Profession Act 2007 in relation to business unit
  • Provide assistance to law practices and their staff
  • Document relevant processes and procedures.

About you

  • Qualifications in business administration, bookkeeping or a related discipline (desirable)
  • Experience in a similar role in a professional services environment
  • Sound knowledge of bookkeeping, trust accounting and associated accounting practices.
  • Ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of the Legal Profession Act 2007, the Legal Profession Regulation 2007 and how it applies to trust accounts.
  • Exemplary customer service skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to provide guidance.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and work in a high volume environment
  • Demonstrated competency in the use of modern office technology, including intermediate use of the MS Office Suite and record management applications.
