About The Role

IAM Major Shutdowns Mine (MSD) is currently seeking a results driven and highly motivated maintenance professional to join the Shutdown Execution as the Superintendent Shutdown Execution.

You will have a holistic view of all maintenance strategies across site and manage priorities accordingly. You will be a forward thinker and have the ability to drive change and performance in the team.

Reporting to the Major Shutdowns Execution Manager, this critical leadership position is responsible for a team of staff and contractors who maintain the site compliance with safety, quality and environmental purpose of the project and managing client and stakeholders interests.

This role will be based at Central Queensland office (off shutdown) or the MSD mine associated with the dragline/ shovel owner BMA mine on a 5/2 roster and offers a choice of flexible travel arrangements.

Your Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain and implement sustainable process improvement strategies, ensuring compliance to process;
  • Oversee and provide guidance in the execution of the shutdown work schedule and minimise any unscheduled work requirements;
  • Guides Coordinators and Supervisors in the weekly planning and scheduling meetings to ensure alignment and commitment of resources to the work schedule;
  • Contributes to the preparation of the inputs to form the shutdown budget;
  • Leads and monitors the application of Shutdown Management Framework processes within the team to support compliance with relevant site SHMS and Group Level Documents;
  • Negotiate with contract partners and service providers to ensure effective and efficient delivery of shutdown scopes of work ensuring compliance with Contractor Management Framework;
  • Ensure all work in your area of responsibility is carried out in a planned and controlled manner and manage site shutdown priorities;
  • Providing project guidance to the shutdown team and to the wider engineering, planning and support departments.

About You

You will have trade qualification and demonstrated experience in extensive maintenance/shutdown project or project management. Your formal Supervisory Competencies and Training (S1, S2, S3, G2) qualifications will be highly regarded.

You will have experience in a leadership role and will utilise your strategic and analytical mind, as well as your business acumen to coach your team in order to drive risk management and productivity improvements and cost reduction.

A strong systems background with experience using SAP, project management and execution experience would be advantageous.

You will also be a performance and achievement oriented professional, who is motivated by exceeding expectations and able to use your relationship building and influencing skills in order to deliver results indirectly through other operational areas.

Your success will be heavily influenced by your strong communication and interpersonal skills, coupled with your ability to identify issues before they arise.
