We are seeking rapid EOI from Registered Nurses and Medical Assistants (Graduate Paramedics) who are able to assist in our Front Line Worker Quarantine Hotel.

About the Department:

The newly commissioned Front Line Worker Quarantine Hotel (FLW) will provide a comfortable environment for front line staff that need to isolate due to COVID 19 and are unable to safely isolate in their normal residence.

The FLW Hotel is located in Richmond. It is a 4 star facility "The Elements". SVHM will provide an onsite daily health monitoring and supportive service to the residents. SVHM will also implement the required COVID testing regime to all hotel staff and residents as required by Covid Quaratine Victoria (CQV) and the Victorian Chief Health Officer.

SVHM is working in alignment with our organisational values and mission, to support FLW hotel residents during the pandemic, to ensure they have accommodation and a supportive environment when requiring self isolation.

This hotel only houses close contacts and any confirmed cases will be immediately removed to the 'Hot' Hotel.

About the Role

Registered Nurse Grade 4A

The Registered Nurse 4A will be part of a multidisciplinary team that provides clinical nursing support to clients of the FLW hotel. This role will conduct telehealth intake assessment, remotely monitor clients physical and mental health for their period of quarantine, and support any health related needs. The registered nurse will be responsible for daily testing COVID 19 testing of all Hotel and onsite SVHM staff as well as COVID 19 screening of clients and completion of required reporting and administrative tasks.

The salary for this position is YW17 - YW18 ($101,764 per annum)

Medical Assistant

The Graduate Paramedic (Medical Assistant) with qualification (previous 2 years), will work in a support role with the nursing staff within the service model. The Medical Assistant will work within the defined skill set and as aligned to their education and assessed competency.

The salary for this position is CW11 ($51,526.80 per annum)

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Registered Nurse Grade 4A

  • Current AHPRA registration as Registered Nurse
  • Drivers license

Demonstrated ability to:

  • Conduct nursing specific assessments and develop care plans that address physical, psychosocial and functional aspects of the client
  • Deliver all required aspects of nursing care in line with established competencies and site procedures
  • Operate within a "patient centred care" framework
  • Facilitate team outcomes in a multidisciplinary environment;
  • Provide support and leadership to junior staff

Medical Assistant

  • Bachelor of Paramedicine (previous 2 years)
  • Drivers license

Demonstrated ability to:

  • Participate in all aspects of clinical monitoring of clients including initial assessment and discharge
  • Under supervision of Registered Nurse providing daily phone support, symptom monitoring and monitoring of client well being or face to face assessment where required
  • Assist with swabbing and/ or saliva testing of clients, hotel staff and SVHM FLW staff as directed by FLW team leader
  • General duties to support the FLW Hotel SVHM health service including assisting in stock monitoring and ordering, maintaining supplies and consumables
  • To complete all documentation and data collection requirements for the role

Please note that as per COVID Quarantine Victoria, clinicians can only work at this one site for the fixed term position, currently until April 11 2021 with the possibility of contract extensions for a further 3-6 months.

Please note the following requirements:

  • Intake general health assessment and daily monitoring for any symptoms, including temperature testing.
  • Documenting these assessments and interactions
  • COVID testing for close contacts as per required regime (usually day 4 and day 11)
  • COVID testing of Hotel staff weekly PCR and daily saliva tests
  • Support is provided and pathways are in place for any escalation of care required.
