About the Role

Responsibilities include leadership of resident teams, participating in ward, outpatient and surgical activities, providing close support to surgeons on elective and on-call service, participating in trauma roster, presentation at clinical conferences, journal clubs and departmental audit meetings.

Clinical exposure includes:

  • Upper and lower limb joint arthroplasty
  • Orthopaedic oncology
  • Sports surgery
  • Upper and lower limb arthroscopic surgery
  • Limb deformity correction
  • Upper limb surgery
  • Trauma surgery

Research is a major focus at the Department, which has research programmes in orthopaedic oncology and arthritis surgery. Opportunities exist to prepare, present and publish original research, with further opportunities available for those wishing to pursue a graduate higher degree at the Masters or Doctorate levels.

Close supervision, mentorship and guidance will be provided and both positions are ideally suited as a preparation for application to specialist surgical training in Orthopaedic Surgery.

Hours: 1 EFT (43hrs +/- overtime)

Classification Range: HM25 - HM30 ($119,542.8 - $164,538.40)

Contract: 07/02/2022 to 05/02/2023

Essential Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrated experience applying medical knowledge towards sound clinical diagnosis, investigation and treatment of patients
  • Classification of PGY4 or greater
  • Full working rights in Australia
  • Hold current AHPRA registration & hold an MBBS or equivalent
  • Hold a current, or willing to undergo a satisfactory National Police Check and if required a NDIS Check at your own expense.
  • Have a commitment to deliver the best in patient care and safety
