ABOUT THE ROLE

Maximum Term Contract – end of October 2021.

For many children, their first experience in our game is through participation in AFL Auskick, junior and school football programs. The core purpose of the Development Coordinator position is to grow participation through the professional and consistent delivery of these core programs. Through best-in-class delivery, our Development Coordinators ensure the highest-quality customer experience across all football and fan engagement programs.

 

The AFL is committed to promoting and protecting the safety and wellbeing of children and young people in our care. The AFL undertakes several screening processes to ensure the appropriate protection of children in its care.

Please note, employment in this position is subject to the successful candidate holding a Valid Working with Children Check and a satisfactory criminal history record check.

 

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF

  • Deliver and run a variety of AFL programs in either school, after-school time, or community club environments

  • Ensure each program is delivered in line with the program curriculum and all participants can participate in a safe, friendly & fun environment 

  • Deliver school football competitions and programs

  • Implement transition and retention strategies from AFL Auskick and school programs to junior club football

  • Liaise with teachers, schools and other program stakeholders 

  • AFL player visits and fan engagement 

  • Support junior clubs and Auskick centres in relation to recruitment, volunteers, coaching, protocols, promotion and venue hire 

  • Conduct promotional activities to meet participant targets e.g. school assemblies and other promotional activities 

  • Contribute to key projects within and outside of core role  

  • Support and contribute to the success of the broader team 

 

 OUR IDEAL TEAM MEMBER

  • Well-developed verbal and written communication, interpersonal, presentation skills 

  • Experience working with children and young people 

  • Demonstrated personal initiative and ability to work effectively unsupervised 

  • Strong organisation and planning skills

  • Satisfactory “Working with Children” check  

  • Due to the nature of the sporting industry must be willing to work outside normal business hours from time to time, such as evenings and weekends

  • Demonstrated ability to relate to and engage diverse communities 

  • Driver’s license to travel across Northern Rivers region
