The Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation)

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation) is a member of the University's Senior Executive and has responsibility for enhancing the University's performance and reputation in research, research training, and research collaboration with external stakeholders, nationally and internationally. This includes the strategic management of research at an institutional level; development of research policy; management of research strategic initiatives, and development of research collaborations in Australia and overseas. The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation) also interacts closely with Executive Deans and Institute Directors who have operational responsibility for research development within the University's Faculties and Institutes respectively, and chairs the University Research Committee, a committee of the Academic Board that promotes and supports research and research training within the University.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation) is supported by the staff in the UQ Research and Innovation portfolio. Units within the portfolio have responsibility to support the University's research community through strategic engagement with external stakeholders, funding organisations and research partners; international collaborations; grants management; research performance data management; research higher degree management; and research ethics and integrity.

About This Opportunity

The primary purpose of this position is to project manage the design and implementation of the Research Information Management Systems (RIMS) project across multiple UQ core facilities. Subsequent phases of the project will require you to undertake detailed business analysis prior to rollout in close consultation with the applicable Business Owner, representatives from the Research & Infrastructure portfolio, the Research Management Business Transformation and Research Systems teams, and other key project stakeholders.

Reporting to the Deputy Director, Research Business Transformation, this position will be working within a small UQ project team, delivered as part of the Research Management Business Transformation Program (RMBT) and will also be required to work with the external vendor and stakeholders to deliver the business outcome.

Our Ideal Candidate

Our ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert in Project Management with a strong track record in delivering service enhancement / business improvement projects at a strategic and operational level. They will have experience in business process design and review, stakeholder consultation, and experience managing client expectations. A demonstrated ability to develop effective written proposals and reports at a level appropriate for the intended audience, and strong interpersonal skills will be critical to the success of this role.

A demonstrated understanding of research management and research compliance management, and strong experience in using and understanding complex structures (systems, processes and organisational structures) within a large research-intensive university is highly desirable.

What We Can Offer

This is a full-time, 2 year fixed term position at HEW level 8.

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $100,264 - $112,583, plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $117,309 - $131,722.
