The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) is a large, multi-disciplinary Faculty with a broad academic profile, substantial research achievements and a commitment to public engagement.

The Faculty comprises seven Schools (Communication & Arts; Education; Historical & Philosophical Inquiry; Languages & Cultures; Music; Political Science & International Studies; Social Science), two research Institutes (Institute for Social Science Research; Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities), two museums (Anthropology Museum and the RD Milns Antiquities Museum), a Centre for Policy Futures, and several school-based research centres. It also plays host to the Institute for Modern Languages.

The complementary nature of our disciplines attract a diverse cohort of international and domestic students, with 640 research higher degree students, approximately 1,600 students in postgraduate coursework degrees and close to 7,000 undergraduates.

About This Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Manager, Student Administration to provide leadership and manage student administration activities under the guidance of the Senior Manager, Student and Academic Administration and to provide ongoing training and support to Faculty staff in the management of processes associated with student administration and the effective use of relevant corporate systems.

This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus, renowned as one of Australia’s most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane’s city centre. Bounded by the Brisbane River on three sides, and with outstanding public transport connections, our 114-hectare site provides a perfect work environment – you can enjoy the best of both worlds: a vibrant campus with the tradition of an established university.

Our Ideal Candidate

To be successful in this role, you should possess relevant qualifications, as well as:

  • Demonstrated capacity for identification and analysis of issues, innovative problem solving and improvement of administrative systems and procedures as well as the ability to interpret legislation and prepare advice for senior staff and committees.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management capabilities including the ability to provide overall vision, lead change and motivate others in a service orientated environment to create an environment for success.
  • Proven capacity to deliver high quality customer services in a fast paced and high-volume office environment. Including the ability to work under pressure and exhibit initiative and sound judgment in challenging situations.
  • Substantial, demonstrated experience in the interpretation and application of university rules, policies and procedures relating to student and academic administration or the ability to rapidly acquire and apply this knowledge.

What We Can Offer

This is a full-time, continuing position at HEW level 8.

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range of $100,264 - $112,583 plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range of $117,309 - $131,723.
