Promoting paradise: it’s a tough job, but someone’s got to do it!

Fraser Island is located just a few hours north of Brisbane and is considered one of the top bucket list experiences in Queensland.

With international travel currently restricted, there is an exciting opportunity to grow our brand presence in the buoyant domestic market.

Salary and benefits are negotiable based on experience.

About the Role

We are looking for an industry trailblazer to lead the marketing function across our portfolio of businesses, which include Kingfisher Bay Resort, Eurong Beach Resort, Fraser Explorer Tours, and the Fraser Island Ferry.

During the past 12 months, the team has successfully pivoted offerings, campaigns, and strategic directions to stimulate growth in the local market. Your role will be to maintain that momentum and bring new ideas and growth plans to the table.

The Director of Marketing is responsible for driving revenue and occupancy across both resort properties, increasing passenger numbers across the touring products, and championing growth across the conferencing, events, weddings, education, and group segments of the business.

Your remit will also include the oversight of all branding, communications, public relations, industry and media partnerships, technology platforms, third-party agencies and suppliers, and local marketing initiatives.

This role reports directly to the General Manager and operates with a high degree of autonomy in a complex environment. You must be resilient, comfortable with ambiguity, self-directed, and motivated to deliver results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Marketing strategy and planning to achieve budget targets and maximise revenue for all business units within the group
  • Manage an in-house sales & marketing team, along with external contractors and appointed suppliers
  • Drive consumer demand for the destination and brands in the portfolio
  • Plan and deliver marketing campaigns and consumer-facing activity in alignment with department KPIs and growth opportunities
  • Achieve department budgets/targets and commercial outcomes
  • P&L accountability, executive reporting, board reporting
  • Lead continuous improvement and innovation across the marketing department, and capability-building of team members
  • Marketing support for sales team members to grow direct business
  • Oversee all branding, communications, and consumer-facing channels
  • Manage relationships with industry partners and tourism bodies

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • Demonstrated history of achieving KPIs and targets
  • Experience managing digital marketing campaigns and a proven track record of innovation and performance in the online space
  • Full-stack marketing expertise across the core functions of copywriting, advertising, creative direction, social media, content marketing, PPC & display marketing, Facebook advertising, campaign management, media planning, public relations, and corporate communications.
  • Experience managing teams and a passion for developing talent
  • 10-15+ years marketing experience (tourism industry is preferrable)

You must hold a valid driver’s license and be able to work/travel outside of regular business hours as required.

This is a busy, hands-on role that will require you to be both strategic and “on the tools” with the team every week to drive consistent results.

You will be based in Brisbane but with regular travel to Fraser Island – it’s the best of both worlds!

You’ll be joining a fun, award-winning crew with big goals and lots of benefits under the corporate umbrella.

This is your opportunity to make your mark and contribute to the future of one of Queensland’s most iconic destinations.
