Your Opportunity

Our Advisory team is looking for an experienced Infrastructure Economist / Business Case Consultant to join our Infrastructure Investment Decisions team to work on strategic projects across a number of economic and social infrastructure sectors Australia-wide.

  • Assist in the development of business cases for major infrastructure and place-based projects
  • Assist in the preparation of economic appraisals including cost-benefit analysis
  • Apply decision-making frameworks for option assessment
  • Collation, interpretation and manipulation of complex data sets, such as transport modelling data
  • Develop documents for investment assurance
  • Assist in the business development and work winning effort including proposal preparation


Key Skills and qualifications

WSP encourages and supports ongoing personal and professional development. To be successful in this position it is anticipated that you will possess the following skills and experience or that you can showcase them through your career history.

  • 2 - 7 years experience in a top consulting, strategy, or advisory firm
  • Relevant experience with Treasury or project development/investment assurance roles on the Government side is valuable
  • Experience in preparing economic models and incorporating complex inputs (eg traffic / public transport demand modelling)
  • Experience in preparing business cases and strong report writing skills
  • Degree qualified in either commerce or economics and finance with post-graduate studies highly valued
  • Technical or Engineering degrees also highly valued
  • Good work ethic, team player, and excellent client interfacing and relationship building skills
  • Strong report writing, economic and financial modelling, and presentation skills
  • Ability to negotiate and influence positive client outcomes
  • Capacity to identify and build business opportunities, develop strong, winning client proposals and manage and maintain positive client relationships
