Officer - Building Maintenance


Remuneration: Annual salary commencing at $65,160 plus applicable allowances and superannuation.

Role Overview

An exciting opportunity exists for a trade qualified building professional to join our Building Maintenance team on a permanent, full time basis.

The key requirements of this position is to work as part of the building maintenance team to complete building, renovation and maintenance work as directed and within work health and safety policy and procedures to ensure Council's facilities are fit for purpose and compliant with relevant legislation.

What we are looking for

Council is seeking a trade qualified builder/carpenter who can work well in a team, pays particular attention to detail, and who values pride in workmanship and a quality finish to join the highly experienced building maintenance team. As an Officer - Building Maintenance, expect to be involved in:

  • All aspects of building and construction work including, but not limited to, carpentry, roof work, asbestos removal, plastering and painting
  • Scheduling and coordinating building and construction projects
  • Liaising with suppliers and contractors relating to building and construction projects.

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Trade Qualification in building/construction industry.
  • Queensland Manual ‘C’ Class driver’s licence or above that is current and maintained.
  • Construction Industry White/Blue card.
  • Broad knowledge and experience across of all aspects of building/construction work including but not exclusive to carpentry, roof work, asbestos removal, plastering and painting work.
  • Demonstrated experience in scheduling and coordination of building/construction projects.
  • Demonstrated understanding of best work health and safety practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to work unsupervised, yet also as part of an integrated team.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise subordinate staff or contractors.

Any additional work specific and relevant permits or tickets such as working at heights, asbestos removal etc will be highly regarded.
