Business Partner - Commercial Analytics

We have newly created role for a Business Partner - Commercial Analytics, reporting to the Senior Manager, Reporting & Analytics, the Business Partner will be accountable for providing insightful and targeted analysis to senior leaders on business turnaround initiatives geared to achieve optimal financial, operational and safety targets. 

Working closely with Commercial Managers and State General Managers, the business improvement analyst will work on a diverse range of projects.

As the Business Partner, you will be accountable for:

  • Provide commercial oversight on supplier agreements, business contracts, sales agreements and other legally binding arrangements.
  • Make recommendations on improvement initiatives and cost down targets through analytical measurement.
  • Facilitate continuous improvement initiatives via the identification and implementation of opportunities which support operational excellence and drive measurable EBIT improvement.
  • Maintain a solid understanding of business operations and actively support the National, State and Branch managers in decision making.
  • High level of competency in the use of costing models with ability to interpret multiple pricing scenarios including cubic/palletised/ugly freight, differing equipment types with ability to conceptualise overall logistics solution for customer.
  • Identify and objectively assess various solution options involving technology and/or process improvements and make recommendations to senior management to increase efficiency, revenue, client retention and profitability.


To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Proven experience (5+ years) in a large, multinational organisation, preferably in transport/logistics or related sector (industrials/manufacturing, FMCG)
  • Experience in process improvement and risk identification and mitigation
  • Strong influencing skills, driving stakeholders to desirable outcomes through fact-based financial analysis and insight; ability to influence outside of line management relationships
  • The ability to think creatively and work collaboratively with teams to solve business challenges
  • Proficiency in stakeholder engagement and relationship development
