About Department
The St Vincent's Speech Pathology team is committed to excellence and innovation in clinical practice and research.

About the Role
An exciting opportunity currently exists for a Grade 2 Speech Pathologist to join our dynamic and supportive Speech Pathology team. You will provide acute Speech Pathology assessment and management to inpatients with communication and swallowing difficulties.

In this position you will also be responsible for clinical supervision of junior staff, undergraduate and post graduate Speech Pathology students, as well as providing education to the teams and wards.

Classifications for this position will range from Speech Pathologist Grade 2 VW1 - VW4 ($81,328 - $93,490 per annum).


  • Assessment and management of patients in accordance with up-to-date knowledge of departmental clinical policies and currently accepted Speech Pathology Australia professional standards of practice
  • Provision of information counseling regarding communication, cognition and swallowing disorders to patients, carers and other staff as required
  • Participation in quality improvement and research activities
  • Providing clinical supervision to Speech Pathology students
  • Providing supervision and mentoring to Grade 1 Speech Pathology staff

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor of Applied Science (Speech Pathology) or Bachelor of Speech Pathology or equivalent.
  • Eligible for membership of Speech Pathology Australia.
  • Experience in Speech Pathology management of patients with disorders of communication and swallowing in a hospital setting
  • High level interpersonal skills incorporating excellent communication, organisational and negotiation skills
